Most bridal shops will only let you book an hour-long appointment. And, while one hour is plenty of time to try on dresses, if you can narrow down your options before stepping foot in the dressing room, you're in for a much more pleasant, laid-back shopping experience.
One easy way to limit your options is to choose a silhouette that will highlight your best-loved assets and conceal your less-favorable traits. To start, figure out which of our five featured body types best defines your figure: Petite, plus size, busty, hourglass or lean and straight. And remember, you may not fit squarely into one category — most people don’t! Take Kim Kardashian: She's petite, busty and has (insane) hourglass curves. And, her wedding dress (ahem, the Givenchy Haute Couture one she wore most recently to marry Kanye West) with its sheath silhouette, modest neckline and waist-baring cut-outs, was the perfect complement to her shape.
Along with finding the right gown for your body type, there are a few other things that can help make your wedding dress shopping experience as easy as possible. First, trust your consultant and don't be afraid to try on gowns he or she suggests that fall outside of your traditional comfort zone. Also shop with a supportive crew! Miss Negativity does not deserve a sacred spot on the "yay-or-nay" team. And finally, do your makeup and hair. It will be much easier to imagine wearing one of these gowns on your wedding day if you don't look like you just rolled out of bed.

Brenda Marsh

Brenda started in the beauty industry in 1985 when she attended beauty school. She began working as a stylist in 1991 and purchased her first successful salon in 2002. She has owned five salons in the southern California area in the Antelope Valley as well as central California in Bishop. Taylor Michelle Salon is Brenda’s latest success story and has been in business since April 2013. Taylor Michelle’s Salon is named after her daughter Taylor. Brenda is a color specialist and it is truly her passion.
Outside of the salon, Brenda loves to garden and ride dirt bikes with her husband Henry. Brenda has three beautiful children and one gorgeous grandbaby boy.

Have you ever wondered how did I end up here? Well for me I know I am exactly where I am supposed to be. From a very early age it was all about the details for everything I did. My family
referred to me as” little miss perfectionist“.
Even personally every detail from hair, make-up and wardrobe was crucial.

So being a wedding/event planner I was a natural. I found Elegant Affairs back in 2001 when I was looking for a location for one my brides. The previous owner was Sandy Davis started this amazing
journey that I am continuing. She
started Elegant Affairs after her daughter Melissa got married and they realized there
really wasn’t an all inclusive venue in the AV for weddings and receptions. So
her vision became a reality. Once I
found Elegant Affairs and did my first wedding I continued to use the venue for future
brides and events I planned.

I was absolutely in love with the wedding venue and everything it had to offer. After a few years, and a wonderful new friendship with Sandy, she was considering retiring and had a perfect plan
to do so. Sandy knew she couldn’t retire
and sell her business to just anyone. So the perfect plan was Sandy had chosen
me to carry on with the Elegant Affairs. So, now five years since Sandy has
retired we are still AV’s first choice for a wedding and reception venue. I
love owning and operating my own business. I also now have the pleasure of
being a Certified Instructor and teach a course through The Wedding Planning
Institute
for individuals desiring to become certified wedding and event planners.
I am also a Certified Professional Wedding and Event Planner, which I can offer
my experience and knowledge to my future brides.

Unfortunately there are some very ill willed individuals here in community that are threatened by our success. So the only way they can try gain business is try spread malicious lies. 2015 is going to be another amazing year for Elegant Affairs.
Even though we chose not to be at the bridal fair this year doesn't mean we are going out of business. Elegant Affairs is NOT closing. We have been here for 15 years and will continue to be here for another. Please do not believe the untruths that Elegant is closing. These individuals can try to take business from us by telling potential brides we are closing and not to book. Those who speak lies and slander our good name will ultimately be dealt with, we know how to handle things in a legal format. Thank you to all our loyal supporters.

When deciding a date to get married, there are so many things to factor into the decision. Questions may arise like...What season should we get married in? What day of the week? What does should definitely NOT be the day? Well...lucky for YOU I'm here to help! So lets settle some of those concerns!

Seasons
There are many things to consider when picking a wedding date in a specific season. For instance, do you want a spring wedding with flowers blooming and the sun shining? Or maybe a winter wedding with a blanket of snow covering the ground. Maybe the warmth of summer or coziness of fall? When deciding take into consideration your occupation. If your a teacher, it would probably be better to plan a date in the summer time. If your a tax accountant you definitely do NOT want to have a spring wedding and so on.

Day of the Week
It is important to consider the day of the week you would like as well. Do you want a weekend wedding? Or, if most of your guests are in town and available would you consider a wedding during the week? Know what you want...After all, it is YOUR day :)

Dates to AVOID
Ok. So the last thing we want to is to have our guests chose between, lets say Superbowl Sunday and your wedding. I mean, lets face it, you may not have many guests in that case. SO to avoid the risk of this happening, be sure to cancel out the days that are any big holiday's or events. July 4th, Thanksgiving, World Series, Labor  Day,etc. You want ALL of your guests happily focused on your day!
